Pirelli’s new factory in Bollate, Italy has begun production of cycling tires. Established in 1962 just outside of Milan, this facility has been undergoing modernization to accommodate the cutting-edge techniques required to produce Pirelli cycling tires. This is the first-ever factory to produce tires in Italy on an industrial-scale. The Bollate manufacturing plant will be dedicated to production of high-tech tires, including all models in the P Zero Race family.
Made-in-Italy Pirelli tires will be available from HLC starting Spring 2022.
More about the factory:
This facility’s close proximity to Pirelli’s Milan headquarters will accelerate development of Pirelli’s future cycling products. Pirelli’s experience as a leading developer of high-performance car tires means that the new factory has been constructed with unique and innovative features. These features are aimed at optimizing geometric precision with innovative process automation, achieving absolute weight symmetry with unique extrusion techniques, and improving its compounds through a continuous mixing system, among many other targets.
The renovation is expected to be complete by early 2023, including a thorough renovation of spaces dedicated to employees and the exterior of the building—these steps will give workers a pleasant work environment and ensure the factory is well-integrated to the surrounding urban setting. A comprehensive approach that enables tire production based on the highest quality standards and Pirelli performance benchmarks the market is already familiar with.
